We celebrated New Year's Eve by ourselves this year. To be honest, at first Rob & I were a little bummed that other plans didn't come thru. But in the end it turned out to be loads of fun. Little kids are so easy to please.. good snacks, party hats and noisemakers, and life is good! Their enthusiasm was definitely contagious. We rented 2 family movies that we thought we'd watch as we waited for the countdown, but we were so busy playing games, decorating the house, making party hats, etc. that we didn't get to either of them. The kids spent a great deal of time dressing all of their stuffed animals in their fanciest PJs, accessorizing with necklaces & earrings. We celebrated New York's midnight for Marieke's sake at 9p.m. our time so that she'd get a chance to toot her horn & throw confetti. After that, she was still going strong so we celebrated again on Chicago's midnight at 10p.m our time. Finally, at 11:15 and still going strong, we decided to put her to bed while still on a good note. Lukas made it to SF midnight and beyond with no trouble at all.
Toasting with fancy glasses of sparkling apple juice
