After much talk, we finally decided to join the "urban chicken" trend. 3 weeks ago, we picked up our new girls: Henrietta, Big Red, Plucky, and Betsy. They are currently being kept at their required cozy 80 degrees under a heat lamp in a box in our house. Chicken coop still to be built and ready by week 8. Lukas & Marieke are, of course, besides themselves with excitement. Hopefully, come July we'll have eggs - blue from Betsy, Maroon/brown from Big Red, and brown from the other two.
